St. Bartholomew
St. Bartholomew is the Apostle whom Jesus addressed as “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit”. His missionary activity included Mesopotamia, Parthia, Lycaonia and Greater Armenia. He was martyred in Urbanopolis, Armenia by command of King Astyages. He is represented holding a picture of the Virgin Mary which, traditionally was given to him after the Assumption of Holy Virgin Mary.
